Stone backers suffer 1.01 horror show

Stone Quercus had given more than a hint in previous starts that he might not be straightforward and his quirks were again apparent going down the back straight in the juvenile hurdle at Musselburgh. Despite that, enough punters were confident his lead was unassailable over the final flight and more than £2,100 was traded on him at 1.01 on Betfair. To their horror he idled, allowing Cape Of Glory to sweep up his inside and win going away after being matched at 50.

Tinted Rose was backed down to 1.13 in the mares' novice hurdle at Market Rasen, but she was headed in the closing stages by Wizard's Sliabh and Undisputed.

Willoughby Court was matched at a low-looking 1.27 in the 2m4f maiden hurdle at Market Rasen as he could never get close to all-the way winner Get On The Yager.
