Stick with soft-ground specialists in bid to land Sandown Placepot

Credit: Alan Crowhurst

There has been no shortage of rain at Sandown over the last few days and it’s vital to stick with proven soft-ground performers in the Placepot on Tingle Creek day.

Paros won his only start over hurdles in France on soft ground and represents Nicky Henderson in the opening juvenile hurdle (12.05). There’s no need for a backup.

Henderson will also send out the red-hot favourite in the 2m novice hurdle (12.40) in the form of Grand Mogul, and the son of Presenting should prove head and shoulders above his rivals. He is another banker.

Fifty Ball handles soft ground and makes plenty of appeal off top weight in the novice handicap hurdle (1.15). Frenchy Du Large is a consistent type who rates a solid alternative.

Last year's Chepstow Grade 1 Finale Juvenile Hurdle winner
Allmankind was impressive on chasing debut at Warwick last month. He should be hard to beat in the Henry VIII Novices' Chase (1.50).

In the absence of Altior in the Betfair Tingle Creek Chase (2.25) Politologue get the vote.

Doing Fine loves it at Sandown and looks one of the bets of the day in the 3m5f handicap chase (3.00). While, Shanroe Santos handles plenty of cut in the ground and might run into a place.
