There should be a lot more to come from Melodic Motion after this winning handicap debut.

Ralph Beckett’s three-year-old had failed to score in three maidens at two, but the form of her second at Nottingham six months ago had worked out well with the winner, Big Challenge, finishing second to the classy Monarchs Glen at Kempton last month.

Racing for the first time since then, Melodic Motion was given a beautiful educational ride by Paul Hanagan, who allowed his mount time to find her stride and only nudged her out to beat Celestation, who enjoyed first run.
