Southwell Placepot picks: Graeme Rodway with his selections for a £100,000 perm

The cold snap means the £100,000 guaranteed Placepot switches to Southwell and the opening 1m4f amateur riders’ handicap (4.37) is one of the more open races in the bet.

The in-form Bascinet is 3lb well in under a penalty and bids to complete a hat-trick following two wins at Chelmsford. He goes in alongside Master Grey, who has solid form at the track.

It’s hard to get away from the William Haggas-trained Ramensky in the following 1m3f novice (5.12) and he rates a banker to finish in the first three on his all-weather debut.

The Charlie Johnston-trained Ray Of Colours could go well in the mile handicap (5.45), but the winner will be needed as only four are declared. Put likely favourite Victory House in too.

The 7f classified stakes (6.15) is wide open. Kraken Florida ran well at the course last time and may still be capable of better, but it’s also worth including the in-form Written Broadcast.

Only seven line up for the 7f fillies’ handicap (6.45), but Theotherside has some good form at the track and is one of my best bets on the day. She can be trusted to finish in the first two.

Tennessee Dream is another banker to make the first three in the 6f classified stakes (7.15).
