Smith's red-hot season can continue with Flaming Moon in the Birdcatcher

It may be worth tackling the Pick 6 at Naas with a guaranteed €15,000 on offer and the task could be made a little easier by the fact the Birdcatcher Handicap (2.20), traditionally a strong race, has attracted just nine runners.

Flaming Moon is the most inexperienced runner in the race but he could be open to plenty more potential and, judging by how he won his maiden at Navan, he should have no trouble with the 6f trip.

A mark of 83 looks workable and Nathan Crosse's 5lb claim should see Matthew Smith's juvenile involved.

The Birdcather's loss is the Foran Equine Auction Final's (2.55) gain, with an ultra-competitive field set to fight it out for the €120,000 prize.

Ger Lyons has a strong hand and Brunelle looks the pick of his four, while Noel Meade's own four runners shouldn't be discounted either, with Layfayette likely to be his best chance.

The opening 6f maiden (1.15) looks a match between Johan Zoffani and Hong Kong, while Allez Allez Allez and Love Locket can fight out the following fillies' maiden over the same distance.

Trethias could be hard to beat in the Garnet Stakes (3.30) but Lovee Dovee looks a potential improver and is feared most.

Finally, Paddy Twomey can take the final leg of the Pick 6, the Bluebell Stakes (4.00), with the Billy Lee-ridden Loveisthehigherlaw.

Selections

1.15 Hong Kong, Johan Zoffani
1.45 Allez Allez Allez, Love Locket
2.20 Flaming Moon
2.55 Layfayette, Brunelle
3.30 Trethias, Lovee Dovee
4.00 Loveisthehigherlaw

Recommended perm: 16 lines at €1 unit stake. Total cost €16
