Sir Ivan again proves costly in running

Credit: Alan Crowhurst

Sir Ivan was matched at 1.37 in running on Betfair in the 2m7f novice handicap chase at Taunton, but he's never found much off the bridle (traded at odds-on three times in defeat last season) and was probably about to be collared when making a blunder at the last. Huff And Puff, who was matched at 22, picked up the pieces, just holding on from Fort Worth (1.43).

Be My Sea never hit the front in the novice hurdle at Ludlow, but he was still backed down to 1.21. That looked low and he was no match close home for Billy Hicks, who was done at 100.

Michael Heard made it eight wins from just 17 rides for David Pipe at Taunton in the last five seasons when partnering Perspicace to an easy victory in the selling hurdle.
