Ran a career-best when third in this race last year off a 12lb higher mark and wasn't disgraced in this year's John Smith's Cup when still 7lb higher than now. Can be excused two subsequent runs over further and looks to have a better chance than his odds imply.

Recorded a good time when winning by a wide margin at Ascot on his debut last month and that form has some substance. The runner-up has since gone close in a novice at Leicester and the well-held fourth is a dual subsequent winner. Peter Chapple-Hyam might have another good one on his hands.
