Rosebride can star for McNamara come rain or shine

One of the downsides of a mini-heatwave like the one the southern half of England is experiencing at the moment is the likelihood of ground-changing thunderstorms.

Officials at Leicester will know all about that as a couple of months ago a surface that was good to firm the night before racing was soft, heavy in places the following morning and the meeting went ahead with almost as many non-runners as runners.

Leicester races again today on good to firm, "selectively watered" ground and while the forecast on the BHA website informs us of the "chance of showers from midnight until early afternoon", other sources of information suggest that could be an understatement – lightning could well strike twice and several more times, too.
