Richard Birch provides his selections for the Huntingdon Placepot

Credit: Edward Whitaker

Land Of Winter showed progressive form in the mud towards the end of the Flat turf season with victories in Goodwood and Nottingham staying handicaps.

He gets his first opportunity to tackle a suitable trip over hurdles in leg one (12.05) of the Huntingdon Placepot, and should not let supporters down.

Mr Washington’s rate of improvement in recent weeks means he is ‘must-include’ material in leg two (12.35), but don’t be surprised if well-treated March Is On denies him the four-timer.

Mister Murchan and Waikiki Waves are the pair to focus on in leg three (1.05), while Dragonfruit, who escapes a penalty for his win in a Carlisle novice handicap chase, reverts to hurdles with strong claims in leg four (1.35).

Malachys Girl hinted at ability on more than one occasion for her previous stable and should also be included.

Prince Llywelyn, third behind subsequent Ascot scorer Enzo D’Airy at Stratford, is chosen for leg five (2.05) with Muse Of Fire, who still appeared to have plenty to give when departing four out at Ludlow.

Miss Austen sets the standard in leg six (2.35), and should make a bold bid for Listed glory.
