1pt winTHERE is little doubt Ascot can be a real course for specialists and while Spring Loaded has won there only once, the way he has travelled over 6f at the track in a couple of Wokinghams suggests he loves the place.

Once better known as an all-weather specialist, that is not the case these days as he has a Portland Handicap on his CV at Doncaster and he really clicked when trying 5f on this course for the first time in July.

He ran out a two-length winner of a £100k handicap that day and you can’t say he has run badly since as he was beaten just over two lengths when seventh in the Stewards’ Cup and didn’t get the clearest of runs when fifth in the Great St Wilfrid at Ripon.
