Pipe's Impulsive American edges battle-shy Mijhaar

Impulsive American justified 5-2 favouritism in the 2m1½f handicap at Ayr, but the market leader was given some help by runner-up Mijhaar, who looked far from keen for a battle.

The 8-1 chance touched a low of 1.14 when briefly hitting the front, but he held his head high and this was the eighth time he has been beaten after trading at 2.3 or shorter in running.

Impulse American traded at a high of 19 before a neck success.
