Gentleman At Arms may be the lowest-rated horse in the field, but there's a chance he's a good deal better than he has shown over fences after just one run on the wrong ground over the wrong.

The six-year-old was actually the best of these over hurdles, having stayed on into second in the Grade 2 Leamington over 2m5f here on bad ground last season, and finished second to Gelino Bello in a Grade 1 Aintree in the spring.

He was below form in two hurdles starts this autumn, hence the drop in the ratings, but trainer Stuart Edmunds was out of form then and the opposite is the case now.

He has had three winners from six jumps runners this month, plus a third in a competitive chase and a 22-1 second on the Flat.

Gentleman At Arms was only third on his chase debut at Leicester, but 2m4f on fast ground was never going to cast him in his best light, and this will be more his bag.
