Just as the jumps at this time of year is about who's ready, the Flat is about who hasn't gone over the top, and I make Rhythm Master a cracking each-way bet in this Listed contest.

Favourite Art Power was very disappointing in the Champions Sprint after his runaway success in Ireland, a race he has a 5lb penalty for winning, and while Commanche Falls can handle bad ground, he has much better form on a quicker surface.

Rhythm Master wouldn't be as good as those two, but he's fresh, having run just twice since his win at Newcastle in June, and he looked in good order when second to the seriously progressive I'm A Gambler at Redcar last month.

He loves deep ground, too, as he was third to Campanelle in the Group 1 Prix Morny as a juvenile, a close fourth to Creative Force in a soft-ground Jersey last season and wound up his campaign with third in this race.

He's got a decent shot at winning this if the front two are not at their best, which is entirely possible, and he should be very hard to kick out of the frame, with a few bookmakers offering four places.
