I'd always forgive a horse one below-par run, especially if that run came at York, which was where Texas Man disappointed as joint-favourite last month.

He had been progressing nicely at the end of his juvenile campaign last season, winning his last two, and following a sighter on his return at Musselburgh in June, he resumed that progress when winning at Redcar a couple of weeks later.
