Paul Kealy provides his Tote Placepot perm for Newmarket
There are two really competitive handicaps at Doncaster which don't really float my boat, so if I was getting involved in a Tote Placepot it would be at Newmarket.
In the opener (1.10) I'm highly tempted to oppose favourite Colonel Frank, who might not be happy over a fast 5f on quick ground.
is one I can see running well for the reasons already given, but is worth adding for Paul and Oliver Cole.
She made a fine return to action when third at Kempton just over three weeks ago and some of his best form last season was on turf.
The next is a novice (1.40), but with none of the newcomers being absolute standouts I'll take two with experience, which often proves important early in the season. showed fair ability when winning on debut at Newcastle, while wasn't beaten far and shaped well enough at Pontefract a couple of weeks ago.
There are only five in the next juvenile maiden (2.10), but ought to be up to making the first two. He was a bit green early, but showed plenty on his debut here last week, splitting a pair with previous experience.
The fillies' handicap (2.45) looks tough on paper, although probably did very well to run a well-regarded odds-on shot to half a length at Leicester a couple of weeks ago, especially as she was conceding 7lb, and she might have got in with a fair handicap mark.
There's yet another novice with little form to go on next (3.15), but , owned by the Queen, will probably be unlucky to run into a horse as good as the 100-rated King Leonidas, who beat here on her final start last term.
Finally, if stays the 1m2f of the last leg handicap (3.45) he will surely be hard to kick out of the first two. His trainer has a cracking 33 per cent strike-rate this term and has inherited a young horse with a mark nearly 20lb below his best.
