Palisade defies drift at Newcastle
>>Bookmakers couldn’t give Palisade away in the TDX Handicap at Newcastle, but the market leader stormed home for a comfortable victory after drifting to 5-4 from 10-11.
>>The market also got it wrong in the following maiden when Plenary, who was backed to 1-3 having been bigger than 4-5 early on Betfair, was beaten. Silvestre de Sousa never looked happy on the favourite and was brushed aside by 5-2 chance Loveable Helen, who drifted from 15-8.
>>De Sousa made it two wins from two rides for George Scott when landing the 5f nursery on 3-1 favourite Saxagogo. The success was his second of the day, following his victory on 1-3 hotpot Devil’s Bridge in the first.
