Osteopathic Remedy has a way to go yet to catch up with fellow veteran Megalala, who is set to continue racing at 16, but the 12-year-old can show his younger opponents the way to the winning post at Ayr.

Although not the force he once was, there was signs of life at Carlisle last time when Osteopathic Remedy was runner-up, and Tuesday's mile apprentice handicap (5.30) looks an ideal chance for him to record a 14th career win.

There has been a lot of rain in Scotland, which left the ground described as heavy at Ayr on Monday, and hopefully the course passes its inspection as Osteopathic Remedy is a proven mudlover. His last course-and-distance win was on heavy ground and he is also very well handicapped.
