Ocean Ready looks set to make another splash for Prescott

Sir Mark Prescott’s Ocean Ready, who scored with more in hand than the official margin suggests over a mile at Salisbury last Thursday, escapes a penalty for that authoritative success and is strongly fancied to follow up in Brighton’s Sussex Cleaning & Care - Official Cleaning Partner Handicap (4.00).

After seizing command three furlongs out under Manuel Fernandes in that apprentice event, Ocean Ready never looked in the slightest danger and was firmly on top at the finish, beating the unexposed Henry Candy-trained filly Artists Model by a length and three-quarters, with the consistent Art Echo, a fair yardstick to southern-track low-grade handicap form, well beaten in third.

Bred to improve for the step up to 1m2f, the low-mileage Ocean Ready appears to have been primed to run up a sequence over the next few weeks, and his trainer has him entered in no less than seven handicaps before Saturday.
