Ocean Air waves goodbye to Leicester rivals close home

There was a taking debut performance from Ocean Air in the 7f maiden at Leicester. James Tate's colt came from off the pace to get up close home after trading at 40 in running on Betfair. The next three home were all matched at odds-on, with runner-up Claire's Secret being done at 1.17.

Ride of the day came from Jamie Moore in the 2m1½f handicap hurdle at Fontwell. His mount Red Orator looked in big trouble rounding the home turn and was backed at 110. He still appeared booked for third jumping the final flight, but Moore's urgings eventually paid off as Mount Vesuvius (1.1) and Osgood (1.2) tied up close home.

Harwoods Volante, who traded at 1.16 in the 7f handicap at Leicester, appeared to pay for racing too keenly in the early stages as he was worn down by the conservatively ridden Red Paladin (40).
