Nottingham Placepot picks: Tom Collins shares his afternoon perm

Nine runners go to post for division one of the 1m½f maiden (1.00), which features a near-even split between runners making their first starts and those with prior experience.

Deauville Legend finished behind the reopposing Qitaal on his debut at this track but is fancied to reverse the form and therefore rates a worthy selection. Well-bred Kingman colt Duty Bound is also chosen.

Division two (1.30) might prove to be the better heat with a bunch of well-connected juveniles likely to head the market. Eldar Eldarov, a £480,000 breeze-up purchase by the great Dubawi, stands out.

A hat-trick of novice events is completed by the 1m½f maiden fillies' stakes (2.05). River Of Stars shaped nicely on her debut at Sandown, while give underfoot will should suit Peace Offering.

You could go several different ways in the nursery (2.40). The safest ploy would have been to opt for topweight Shabano but he is now a non-runner, so I will side with last-time-out scorer Sweet Madness.

Unexposed gelding Kolisi appears the best-handicapped horse in the penultimate 1m2f handicap (3.15) but has disappointed on his last two starts. Back-up is required in the form of Glentaneous, who finished seventh in the Golden Gates Handicap at Royal Ascot.

A gelding operation had the desired effect on Josies Kid, who should have a good chance of following up his recent York win in the closing 5f nursery (3.50).
