Nottingham Placepot picks: Phill Anderson provides his Wednesday perm
It’s easy to make a case for Tephi after another narrow defeat at Beverley last time out and she can make the frame in the opener (1.00) at Nottingham. Well-bred newcomer Poseidon Prince can offer some insurance.
In the fillies’ maiden (1.35), Run Simba looks a nice prospect for Karl Burke. She outran odds of 66-1 at Glorious Goodwood, and her pedigree and the way she shaped on her debut suggest she will relish the step up to a mile.
Course-and-distance winner Glorious Angel returned to form when runner-up at Newcastle last time out and she ought to be involved in the finish of the Grassroots Series Final Nursery (2.10) with talented apprentice Connor Planas claiming 7lb for the first time.
Danzan is always hard to keep out of the places in big-field handicaps and he can give another good account in the sprint handicap for older horses (2.45) after his Ayr Bronze Cup success last week. Course specialist Cooperation is another to consider having had excuses last time.
In the Middle Distance Final Handicap (3.20) Natchez Trace has looked progressive on the all-weather and, if he can transfer that form back to turf, a 5lb rise looks manageable. Smiling Jayne looks another solid place contender having found just one too good on her last two starts.
Arabescato has been consistent all season and is back on a good mark, he’s run well at this venue before and warrants respect in the stayers’ handicap (3.55). Saint Riquier wasn’t seen to best effect on his most recent Flat run but he was beaten only two lengths and he can be involved again.
