Newmarket Placepot picks: Paul Kealy's perm for day one of the Guineas meeting
There's plenty of guesswork involved with unraced two-year-olds, but and look two of the most obvious in the opener given their stables and pedigrees, and they would be my stabs at the first leg (1.15) of the Newmarket Placepot.
I'll go with the front two in the market for the next (1.50) as has obviously trained on well judging by his success at Meydan in February and will find this easier than the Craven last time, although will need to settle a bit better to see out the trip.
However, I will take a chance by banking on to hit the first two in the next (2.25) as he was eyecatching in the final furlong at Newbury on his return.
ought to win if anywhere near his best form in leg four (3.00) but there are undoubtedly question marks over him, so we'll add , who is also well treated at his best and wasn't beaten far in a big field at Musselburgh last time.
There should be no stopping in leg five (3.35) after his excellent Group 1 second in Dubai, and that just leaves the fillies' maiden (4.10), in which boasts the best form.
It's not a standout level by any means though, so I'll add one of the newcomers, with getting the nod for Charlie Appleby.
