Newmarket Placepot picks: Paul Kealy selects a small perm for 2,000 Guineas day

Creative Force is sure to be the most popular horse in the opening leg of Newmarket's Placepot (1.15), but he is up 8lb and he didn't go on from last season's winning debut.

was constantly denied a run when fourth to Bickerstaffe at Pontefract last time and should gain revenge on 4lb better terms. Closely related to Major Jumbo, who twice placed in the Palace House, he looks sure to go close.

In the next (1.50) is hard to leave out, while I do like the chances of Starcatnow he has been gelded.

It's hard to argue too much with the market for the Palace House (2.25) and , who was at his very best second time out last season when bolting up at Sandown, will surely be hard to kick out of the three.

Pyledriver is very much the form horse if ready for the Jockey Club Stakes (3.00), but that has to be taken on trust, while was impressive on his return from a long break when beating subsequent Sagaro second Ocean Wind at Nottingham.

The bounce is a slight concern, but he didn't look to have a hard race.

I can't see this Placepot paying a great deal – if it does I won't win it – so the perm is going to be small, and and Mutasaabeqare the two for the 2,000 Guineas (3.40).

That leaves a tricky seven-runner finale (4.15), but I'll be taking on the front two of Great Ambassador and Raaeb, who need to prove they are as good on turf.

Recent Newmarket one-two and have done that and one of them should hit the first two.
