Newmarket Placepot picks: Paul Kealy provides his perm for Friday's card
The opening leg (1.15) of the Placepot at Newmarket ought to be straightforward as there's no reason why Al Jaddaf won't act on turf and he holds the best form in a race with a pitiful turnout for the money.
That won't reduce the pool by much but race two (1.50) might as the favourite Wedding Dance is rated some 12lb off the best in the field.
Preference is for the top-rated Soft Whisper, with Maamora the other suggestion as she was not far off her previous best on her last two starts.
Albaflora misses the 2.25 on account of the ground, so ready preference is for the consistent Forbearance.
We'll also add Mystery Angel, who has done a lot of running on soft ground this season but won the Pretty Polly here in May on a quick surface and has course form figures of 1321.
I wouldn't be looking for a big perm in the next (3.00) and hold enough confidence in the claims of market leader Majestic Glory to leave it to her.
With Master Of The Seas yet to run since the 2,000 Guineas, the consistent Benbatl looks the safer play in the next (3.35) and I'll also bank in the closer.
Star Safari wasn't at his best on soft ground last time but the form of his Group 2 third to Sir Ron Priestley at the July course before that makes him the one to beat.
