Newmarket Placepot picks: Paul Kealy has two bankers to go to war with

Eight of the last ten winners of Newmarket's opening mile maiden (1.00) had previous experience, so Dawn Of Liberation has to be the Placepot pick.

He will likely go off favourite unless Magisterial catches the imagination of punters, but Dawn Of Liberation deserves to head the market given he finished placed behind Reach For The Moon at Newbury and Hoo Ya Mal at York.

The seven-runner nursery (1.35) looks trickier. Sed Maarib was a clear second to Tattersalls Stakes contender Modern Games at Doncaster and should run well again, while Strozzi is worth another chance at a mile back on turf.

Gale Force Maya has generally been in terrific form this season and should go close with Adam Farragher enlisted to negate her 5lb penalty in the following 6f handicap (2.10). Double up with Zim Baby, who finished close behind her at Pontefract last time.

Cresta is a horse I give an outside chance to in the next (2.45), but he's probably not a Placepot play. Trident will be hard to keep out of the first two.

Nayef Road ought to find the drop into Listed company (3.20) easier than his recent assignments and has to be selected. Morando is also suggested in a bid to knock favourite Max Vega out of the frame.

That leaves a tricky finale (3.55), in which Tribal Art is preferred of the three-year-olds. He goes in with Lostwithiel.
