Newcastle Placepot picks: Tom Segal has four bankers in his perm

The hardest race for Placepot punters to get through on the Newcastle card might well be the opening Top Odds Every Day With BetUK Handicap (12.08), in which winning form is pretty thin on the ground.

Selfish Brian has been in good form at Wolverhampton of late and looks the safest choice, while Sheharz put up an improved effort last time and goes in as well.

The other race that probably needs at least one selection is the Huge Daily Boosts Only At BetUK Handicap (2.43). Catherine Chroi was unlucky in running over course and distance last time and should go well again, but this is competitive and the topweight Kraken Power has dropped to a really good mark.

Camusdarach was caught close home over a mile at Lingfield last time and should appreciate the drop back to 7f in the It's Time To Turn To talkSPORT Nursery (12.38). He recorded a decent time that day and can be relied upon to hit the frame.

Great State has a penalty to overcome after winning over 5f last time but his decent apprentice jockey negates most of that and he will be better over 6f too. He is the obvious choice in the talkSPORT Download The App Novice Stakes (1.08).

At first glance the other two handicaps in the Placepot look hard but Barenboim has made giant strides since joining David O'Meara and there should be more to come from him. He is worth banking on in the BetUK's Acca Club £5 Free Bet Handicap (1.38).

The same goes for Capparis in the Scu Selects Expert Tips By BetUK Handicap (2.10) after her improved effort in cheekpieces last time.
