Newcastle Placepot picks: Keith Melrose with his perm for the £100,000 pool

The guaranteed £100,000 Placepot pool on Tuesday comes from Newcastle, so it is well worth sticking to the twilight all-weather action even though turf racing is back.

Victory March has been reliably progressive of late and can hopefully ensure smooth passage through leg one, the 1m4½f handicap (2.40). Unplugged is the best option in the 1m2f handicap (3.13) that follows but he needs backup, which can come from Glittering Choice.

Things get trickier after that. Weydaad is declared on Monday so the 7f novice (3.45) may look wide open by race time. Unbridled Power is the next best option, ahead of Beggarmans Road.

Only a win is good enough in the 7f handicap (4.15) so all four of Brewing, Parallel World, Beattie Is Back and Emily Post go in to ensure safe passage.

Tothenines and Bellagio Man have the most solid profiles coming into the 6f handicap (4.45) and offer a decent alternative to likely favourite Westmorian, so hopefully that leg can whittle down the opposition somewhat.

A 5f novice (5.15) rounds off the Placepot. While it is a favoured personal tactic to bank and potentially hedge on Betfair when it comes to the last leg, the Tote guarantee changes things and therefore Megan Moon should be backed up by Bluff.
