Nap of the day: best horse racing tips from the day's six meetings
Selections from Ayr, Galway, Leicester, Newcastle, Redcar and Wexford
Monday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team
Ayr
4.50: Steinkraus
This looks much more competitive than Division 1 and pretty good cases can be made for most of these. Top of the list is Steinkraus, who lost out only narrowly to a heavily punted rival at Carlisle 11 days ago. His running style, pedigree and Irish point form all suggest he can improve again over today's longer trip. Melanamix may provide the main threat.
Chris Wilson
Galway
2.10: Newgirlintown
As competitive as the numbers suggest but it might be worth chancing Newgirlintown, whose assured stamina will come in handy given the conditions and the return of both Shane Foley and cheekpieces are much welcomed. Excuzio Joe, who won the 7f handicap on this card last year, posted a decent time in winning at Navan so she's a danger along with Adelisa and course specialist Out On Friday.
Alistair Jones
Leicester
4.35: Ey Up It's Maggie
This looks a bit weaker than the races Ey Up It's Maggie has contested on her last two starts and she can get back on the winning trail, with the main dangers likely to come from Ventura Flame and Four Adaay, preferred in that order.
Richard O'Brien
Newcastle
8.00: Visions Of Glory
Top of the list is William Knight's progressive three-year-old Visions Of Glory, who justified favouritism on his drop back to 7f at Wolverhampton last Monday and may well be able to strike again under a penalty to make it 2-3 in handicaps. Second choice is Eyes who went very close at Yarmouth two weeks ago and is only 1lb higher here on her return to Tapeta. Others with each-way claims are Zenzero and Perfect Soldier.
David Moon
Redcar
5.00: Blazing Son
There's plenty to like about the chance of Blazing Son. His form that worked out well at Ripon last time was on good ground but he has run well on soft and his sire Mayson loved the mud. Bobby Shaftoe rattled home over shorter at Musselburgh two weeks ago and going over further looks an obvious move. Hoofs Happy Now is another with solid claims.
Alistair Jones
Wexford
3.30: Eklat De Rire
A couple of these rivals have stronger claims at the weights but nonetheless Eklat De Rire should be hard to beat on what he showed in his first two starts over fences. The Big Dog would prefer even further but is still respected along with the mare Fairyhill Run who is forgiven a flat performance in the Munster National.
