Ascot

3.38: Fanion D'Estruval

Fakir D'oudairies has a leading chance on ratings but that advantage may be diminished if he again makes errors. He's still respected, purely in terms of ability, but preference is for Fanion D'Estruval whose latest effort came in a good C&D handicap that threw up the winner of this race in 2019 and 2021. The Venetia Williams-trained 7yo is better than ever and open to further improvement. The forecast suggestion is Saint Calvados who looks interesting back down in trip on his second run for Paul Nicholls. Dashel Drasher was somewhat helped by Cyrname's respiratory issue in this contest last year but he's well suited by Ascot and has to be feared. Mister Fisher, who may be about to produce his best Grade 1 effort, also enters calculations.
Steve Boow

Haydock

2.40: Bristol De Mai

This isn't an easy race in which to whittle down the contenders, testing ground at Haydock has brought out the best in several of them. Top of that list is three-time Grade 1 Betfair Chase winner Bristol De Mai, who was pulled up in that race this season but bounced back with a creditable third at Lingfield last time. Better could have been expected from Lord Du Mesnil in the Peter Marsh here last month but he has an excellent record at Haydock otherwise and is feared most in his bid to land back-to-back runnings. Sam Brown, Blaklion and Enqarde also ran cracking races here last time out, while last season's Welsh National winner Secret Reprieve retains potential.

Wincanton

3.58: Mr Glass

The most interesting runner is Paul Nicholls' unexposed novice Mr Glass who won his first two starts over hurdles and wasn't discredited in a Grade 1 last time. He seems very versatile regarding the ground and could be on a good mark for today's handicap debut. Stellar Magic can probably be excused last month's disappointing run at Ascot and is a big player if judged on his earlier run at Haydock. Solwara One has fallen in two chases this season but still has potential over hurdles.
Chris Wilson

Gowran Park

1.45: Privilege

This isn't a deep contest and it looks like a good opportunity for Privilege who chased home a nice prospect at Leopardstown last time and could be hard to beat. The Role Model could be the main danger if he can build on last month's staying on fourth where he wasn't seen to best effect and Bynx is another with place potential back down in class.
Phill Anderson

Lingfield

1.25: State Legend

James Ferguson's State Legend looked progressive in winning at Wolverhampton and he earns preference over Kissininthebackrow who should improve for this longer trip. Mashkuur is the other likely player.
Alistair Jones

Newcastle

7.00: Knockabout Queen

Penombre and Jems Bond are considered in a modest event but last-time-out winners Won Love and Knockabout Queen look the most solid contenders. The latter won a similar event in decisive fashion eight days ago and can follow up.
