Carlisle
8.20: Crossing The Bar
There could be considerable further improvement to come from Sir Michael Stoute's lightly raced four-year-old Crossing The Bar (nap), who was returning from an 11-month absence when placed in a Bath novice two weeks ago and now moves up in trip for his handicap debut. Francisco Bay also tackles a new trip and is feared most. Snookered was ahead of Magna Moralia when second at Nottingham this month and is next on the list.
Chris Wilson
Haydock
3.55: Havagomecca
A half-sister to three winners for her yard, including mudlovers Kommander Kirkup and John Kirkup (who runs in the 4.30), Havagomecca (nap) showed enough on her handicap debut, after a slow start from a wide stall, to sugggest she's well up to winning off this mark. Big Thanks is another bred to relish the ground, being a brother to the useful three-time heavy-ground winner With Thanks, but there are stable form concerns with him, while Dan De Light's improvement this spring has come on the AW. Marve is another to consider.
Graham Wheldon
Ripon
3.35: Benadalid
This looks a good opportunity for multiple course winner Benadalid (nap), who beat a subsequent winner by six lengths on soft ground over course and distance last time and is well treated under a penalty. The main danger is Fishable, who ran into trouble after missing the break at York and could resume his progress if things go more to plan this time. Third choice is Scottish Summit, who went close at Newmarket on his penultimate run and could be dangerous back up in trip and down in grade.
David Moon
Sandown
8.00: History Writer
Off his reduced mark there should be a big run in History Writer (nap), a course-and-distance winner who was third in the last running of this in 2019. His latest effort in the Victoria Cup was highly encouraging. Ransom wasn't seen to best effect when relinquishing his unbeaten record at Kempton and this son of Kingman retains significant potential on his turf debut. Semser is another for the shortlist, with last year's York third for Roger Varian an eyecatching piece of form.
Alistair Jones
Limerick
6.30: Strong Roots
Lightly-raced for her age, Strong Roots (nap) is less exposed than many of these and makes plenty of appeal following her Wexford second. Recent Ballinrobe winner Strong Romero may continue on the upgrade. Ask David drops in trip after his second at Cork but seems versatile. Western Line has hinted at potential from time to time. Fair Minded has a chance on last year's best from.
Alan Sweetman
Worcester
2.05: Blazing Saddles
Ranco will be a danger if transferring his recent Flat form on this handicap debut but the safest option looks to be Blazing Saddles (nap), after another good effort last week.
