Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's six meetings

Monday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team

Ayr

1.48: City Of Life

Will He Dance drops to a trip shy of 1m4f for the first time since his pre-handicap days and he'll want a good pace up front, as when finally off the mark in a Musselburgh 0-50 last time. Russian Virtue and Ayr Poet have both slid to fair marks, but the unexposed City Of Life (nap), a first runner here for his Newmarket-based trainer, looks the way to go.
Graham Wheldon

Carlisle

8.45: Iris Dancer

Somewhere Secret did well to finish third over course and distance one month ago, having raced wide, but the suggestion is Iris Dancer (nap), who also raced wide when second to an unexposed three-year-old in a much stronger course and distance race than this two starts ago and can be excused her subsequent defeat over 7f. Langholm should also be on the premises, while habitual slow-starter Glorious Rio lurks on a dangerous mark.
Chris Wilson

Cork

3.30: Ballybough Native

Ballybough Native (nap) cost plenty of money and should be good enough to win an ordinary affair such as this. Liam Burke has been quiet this term but that could all change, Patricks Hill having the form to go close now.
Johnny Ward

Naas

2.40: Dubawi Spectre

On pedigree and the way he finished over 7f here last time, this step up in trip should suit Dubawi Spectre (nap) who is fitted with headgear for the first time. Denmark and View Taken are the most interesting of the newcomers.
Mark Nunan

Ripon

3.25: Hyperfocus

Top of the list is course-and-distance winner Hyperfocus (nap), who has a very solid record this season and was a close fourth in a big-field Class 2 event at York last Saturday. The pick of the opposition is the admirable eight-year-old Dakota Gold, who recorded his 14th win when scoring at York in May and was a good second on all-weather last time.
David Moon

Windsor

6.25: Aramis Grey

A strong field for this sprint handicap. Indian Creak wasn't suited by Goodwood's fast 5f on Tuesday but he still ran quite well and he looks a key player back at this track. Total Commitment lurks on a dangerous mark and is greatly respected, while Lequinto should find this being run to suit and has been a revelation since returned to 6f. None appeals more than Aramis Grey (nap) though, with Rae Guest's mare having shown useful form in winning a fillies' handicap over course and distance in May. The second, third and fifth home in that race have all done wonders for the form and the manner of her win suggests she could rate even higher on grass.
Paul Smith
