Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's six meetings
Friday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team
Exeter
3.35: War Lord
Previous winner Greaneteen is better than ever according to Paul Nicholls but he will need his wits about him to concede so much weight to two rivals who were among the best of Britain's 2m novice chasers last season. At this trip and on such a stiff track, WAR LORD (nap) might be a stronger stayer than Third Time Lucki, and he returns at a good time with his yard having a productive week.
Alistair Jones
Fontwell
3.25: Toad Of Toad Hall
Most of these have plenty to prove but TOAD OF TOAD HALL (nap) made it second time lucky over fences with his C&D win in June and he's open to more progress on his return to action. He gets the vote ahead of another six-year-old in Coolvalla, who was an impressive winner over hurdles on his penultimate run last season and should have a future at this new discipline.

Hexham
3.45: Fenland Tiger
The favourite has won this contest in five of the last six years, with the recent Carlisle scorer FENLAND TIGER (nap) a confident choice to continue that trend. Sam England's charge relished the step up in trip (to 2m4f) when scoring with ease there and is fancied to make light work of the subsequent 7lb rise. The Ffos Las second Robbie Dazzler is also open to improvement, so rates as the main danger.
Mark Rowntree
Newcastle
5.15: Hail Sezer
So Grateful has had a fine run of form of late and is best excused his latest defeat over 5f as he was hampered early. The return to 6f will be no great hardship and he looks sure to go well, but HAIL SEZER (nap) is also going great guns and he looked to have a bit more in hand than the narrow winning margin at Southwell recently. Redzone's course record means he cannot be left out while Glorious Rio looks sure to give it plenty again.
Emily Weber
Down Royal
2.05: Pied Piper
There's very little to separate PIED PIPER (nap) and Fil Dor who meet again but with the benefit of a recent run – a win on return at Cheltenham last month – the former can get the better of his stablemate this time.
Phill Anderson
Dundalk
6.00: Beginnings
The form of the Naas maiden in which BEGINNINGS (nap) finished fourth on her debut couldn't be working out much better and she could take plenty of beating here in what may not be the strongest maiden. Colin Keane prefers the twice-raced Sweetest Rose to the Juddmonte newcomer Cooler and she would have a major chance on her debut effort. Of the other debutantes, Report appeals most.
