Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's seven meetings

Saturday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team

Doncaster

7.35: Reverend Hubert

A small field but a few runners are of note, including Irish raider Sweet Will (second choice). Gavin Cromwell's 5yo has clicked over jumps in recent weeks and there was some promise in three quick Flat runs back in the summer of 2020. Flint Hill and Zoffee have also been in jumping action since their last Flat run and the latter starts out for Hugo Palmer off a potentially handy mark. Reverend Hubert(nap) relished stepping up to 2m at Chelmsford on his reappearance, though, and he can progress further as a stayer.
Paul Smith

Goodwood

3.16: Caradoc

Moktasaab justified favouritism in a 20-runner race over this trip at Newbury on his first run for new connections and the issue was never in much doubt. He is not passed over at all lightly but Caradoc (nap) shaped very nicely in the Spring Cup on the same card and he is preferred, with this step back up in trip surely in his favour. Sweet Reward is third on the list, having shaped as if in need of the race behind Moktasaab at Newbury.
Richard Austen

Hexham

6.20: Croagh Patrick

It's hard to be swayed from Croagh Patrick (nap), who has been in excellent form at around 2m4f since his wind op in February and might have more improvement to come back at 3m. Scottish Accent is fairly reliable and may provide the biggest threat. Canelo is very well handicapped for today's stable debut and will be of strong interest if the market speaks in his favour.
Chris Wilson

Newmarket

3.40: Native Trail

The Charlie Appleby-trained Native Trail(nap) has done everything that has been asked of him and can make it six out of six, adding to his two impressive Group 1 wins last season. His stablemate Coroebus also has the potential to be top class, having won the Group 3 Autumn Stakes over C&D last October in dominant fashion, and he's feared most. The Group 1 Vertem Futurity Trophy winner Luxembourg has to be respected for Aidan O'Brien, along with Perfect Power who has every chance of staying 1m having kept on well to land the Greenham over 7f on his reappearance. Checkandchallenge, Eydon and Royal Patronage could go well at bigger odds, with Checkandchallenge perhaps the most interesting of those outsiders.
Ben Hutton

Punchestown

3.50: Epatante

This looks like a good opportunity for Epatante (nap) to pick up another Grade 1 success. She followed an excellent second at the Cheltenham Festival with a Grade 1 win at Aintree three weeks ago and this is effectively a drop in class from those assignments, back against her own sex. Stablemate Marie's Rock is a progressive mare that can't be ruled out after a Mares' Hurdle win at the Festival and Telmesomethinggirl was still travelling well when brought down in that race.
Phill Anderson

Thirsk

2.05: Astro King

After several fine efforts in good handicaps last year, including in this, the vote goes to Astro King(nap), with his good record when fresh to date providing hope that he'll be ready for this after seven months off. The race Empirestateofmind won at Ripon recently has already received a few boosts so he's feared most from a handy inside draw. Starshiba, an interesting recruit for his new stable, Trais Fluors and On A Session are others who could have a say.
Andrew Sheret

Uttoxeter

3.30: Francky Du Berlais

Peter Bowen's Francky Du Berlais(nap) won two valuable good-ground handicaps last summer and he makes plenty of appeal off a good mark following his return to form in the Topham at Aintree. This longer trip is well worth another go. A refreshed Irish Prophecy is respected under his optimum conditions and last year's winner Captain Tommy can also have a say.
