Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's seven meetings

Saturday tips from Goodwood, Haydock, York, Newmarket, the Curragh and more

Saturday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team

Goodwood

2.50: Aldaary

The unbeaten Aldaary looks a Group horse in handicapper's clothing and probably has the class to defy a 12lb rise for his impressive reappearance win. He's progressing so well that he could make his mark in Pattern races before long. Tawleed, who also represents the Shadwell Estate Company, may prove the biggest danger as he too looks the type to improve further. Talbot is third choice, ahead of handicap debutant Soundslikethunder.
Steve Boow

Haydock

2.25: Frankenstella

Postileo is a very promising stayer and makes more appeal than his Chester conqueror Green Book, given today's 7lb swing in the weights, but he has not raced on worse than good to soft ground. Frankenstella, however, not only has the sort of dour staying qualities that will be needed but one of her wins last term was on soft. Vindolanda goes very well in the mud and although she has a bit more to prove at the trip, she is second on the list. In-form Hiroshima is also on the shortlist.
Richard Austen

Newmarket

3.40: Almighwar

John Gosden's Almighwar remains a stayer of considerable potential despite his Newbury defeat and this softer ground could make a huge difference to him. He has a big chance even though conceding more than a stone to Zeeband won't be easy and Global Storm also comes right into the reckoning on a course he handles particularly well.

Curragh

2.45: Glen Shiel

Not seen since hitting a career peak when winning the Qipco British Champions Sprint at Ascot in October, Glen Shiel looks the one to beat on ground he relishes. With two notable non-runners here, the main dangers look to be last year's winner Speak In Colours and Sonaiyla.
Alan Hewison

York

4.55: Yorkshire Lady

This can go to Yorkshire Lady who is well equipped to handle deteriorating conditions and looked to have more to give when going clear at Ripon. Blu Boy has held all-comers at bay on his last two starts but the big rise in the weights, the better company and different ground will ask new questions. Aquaman could turn out the main danger, although Maison De York is also of interest if he copes with the slower ground than at Redcar.
Emily Weber

Stratford

7.10: Hatcher

It's hard to nail down exactly what Hatcher achieved when winning a match at Ludlow last month but he did it comfortably and has been nudged up only 1lb. Dan Skelton's 8yo remains well handicapped on the best of last season's form and his hurdling exploits in 2018 show that he's very well suited by this track. Scardura made a low-key reappearance over hurdles in March but will be dangerous off his current mark if back on song. The teenager Duke Of Navan hasn't won for ages but can also feature.
Chris Wilson

Lingfield

6.25: Joy Choi

The ones with soft-ground form are Joy Choi and Danzart. The selection clocked a decent time at Chepstow and she could be a sprinter on the upgrade.
