Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's seven meetings

Thursday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team

Chepstow

2.00: Pontius

Preference is for the lightly raced 4yo PONTIUS, who finished well to go close off the same mark at Brighton two weeks ago and is open to further progress. Redredrobin has a solid record this season and she's feared most, though Bounty Pursuit has striking form figures over C&D and he looks interesting on his drop back in trip. Others who could be in the mix are Iconic Knight and Granstand.
David Moon

Epsom

6.10: Intercessor

It was hard not to be impressed by INTERCESSOR's convincing C&D win last week and he looks well treated under a 5lb penalty. Canagat may finish closer on 7lb better terms but the fillies New Heights (second choice) and Daphne May look more obvious dangers.
Richard O'Brien

Hamilton

2.20: Peachey Carnehan

Lots of these arrive with question marks against them but PEACHEY CARNEHAN can race off a 1lb lower mark than when a good recent Doncaster third so this looks a good opportunity for him to add to his convincing C&D success. In-form Rain Cap is next on the list, although both Ustath and Hard Solution are weighted to have a say if bringing their A-game.

Leicester

3.40: Fresh Hope

All five runners have something to recommend them but FRESH HOPE is easily the most appealing. A winner on her handicap debut in May, she ran a cracker at Royal Ascot when faring best of the far-side group. She runs off the same mark today and can take full advantage of the drop in class. Baileysgutfeeling is preferred to Al Baahy for the forecast spot.
Paul Smith

Worcester

8.55: Mac Suibhne

The one to beat is MAC SUIBHNE, after last week's comfortable Market Rasen win. Midnight Jewel and Kapitaliste have claims but perhaps Stigwood will provide the main danger.
Jonathan Neesom

Leopardstown

7.20: Trevaunance

Though she has a bit to find on ratings, TREVAUNANCE is lightly-raced and can bridge that gap, with the form of her Limerick win last time boosted since. Georgeville and Boundless Ocean can give her most to do.
Tyrone Molloy

Killarney

7.00: Sphagnum

Sunday's Sligo winner SPHAGNUM can make it a quick double off what is now his revised mark, the 5yo likely with still more to offer. My Friend The Wind and last year's winner Da Big Fella look the main dangers.
Alan Hewison
