Several runners have respectable course form, notably Eairsidh (nap) who split subsequent winners last time and looks open to further progress in the retained tongue-tie. Dr Oakley (second choice) is ahead of the assessor and Out The Glen also enters calculations, while last year's runner-up Newberry New has possibilities granted a revival in new headgear.

4.05: Longshanks

Fulgurix went down fighting at Leicester three weeks ago and might well be seen to better effect over today's longer trip but preference is for Longshanks (nap), who is very interesting if judged on his course-and-distance third behind subsequent Grade 1 winner L'Homme Presse in December. Course-and-distance winner Getmegold is next on the list, while Red Happy is a more speculative option to consider.

Although Goobinator (nap) was twice a beaten favourite back hurdling at the end of 2021, his latest Doncaster third reads well in the context of this race and he's worth another chance with first-time cheekpieces added to his regular hood. Seddon failed to stay 3m last time and has quickly returned to the mark he won at Lingfield in November so he could pose the chief threat.

8.30: Elzaam Blue

The handicapper has given Elzaam Blue (nap) every chance of following up last month's course-and-distance success with an opening mark of 75 to work with. Tyrconnell should be involved again and Godhead will appreciate a return to this trip.

Ustath returned to form last week and has sound claims despite a wide draw. Louis Treize and Amazing Amaya have the ability to feature if the cards fall right but this looks a good chance for Purple Power (nap) to gain a first win for new connections.
