Ralph Beckett is undoubtedly one of the best trainers in Britain and he seems to have a special affinity with fillies. Today he runs the highly progressive Mountain Bell in the Worthington's OCSL Stakes at Newbury (2.20) and she is primed to run a massive race.

After running away with a maiden at the start of the season on soft ground, Mountain Bell was seemingly a bit disappointing in the Lingfield Oaks Trial but she was far too keen and did bump into Yorkshire and Irish Oaks winner Seventh Heaven and Epsom Oaks second Architecture too.

In hindsight that wasn't a bad effort given how much energy she expended early on and she was really impressive after a break at Chester last time. Mountain Bell gave some good horses plenty of rope into the straight and took plenty of time to find her stride at that tricky track. However, once she got going she powered home, and Newbury and the give underfoot will suit her a lot better.
