Mick Jazz has last laugh over Emery in Listed contest

In a battle of Cheltenham hopefuls, Mick Jazz wore down Cilaos Emery in the final strides of the Listed novice hurdle at Punchestown after trading at 19 in running on Betfair. The runner-up was done at 1.06.

Despite more than £3,900 being traded on Judgement Day at 1.01 in the bumper at Punchestown, he never appeared in total command and was collared close home by Oakley Hall (170).

The long odds-on Burbank was backed down to 1.03 in the novice hurdle at Musselburgh but that was surely more in hope than confidence as he never really looked like getting past all-the-way winner Tree Of Liberty, who was matched at 40.
