Monteverdi has more to offer down in trip 1.25 Sandown

Jamie Osborne’s colt could never get involved when tried over a stiff mile in the Britannia at Ascot last time, but he had previously shown plenty of speed and looks sure to be suited by the return to 7f this afternoon.

Monteverdi was beaten a length and a half in second in a 6f Newmarket handicap in April and built on that promising reappearance when upped to this distance at York two starts ago. He was beaten three and a quarter lengths in third, but that was a hot race and the winner, second and fifth all ran well at Royal Ascot.
