Magical out to make more memories in Hackwood Stakes

The bet365 Hackwood Stakes (3.00) at Newbury in front of the ITV cameras has been the plan for Magical Memory after he won his conditions race at Haydock.

Frankie Dettori said he would ride and they get on well, having won four times out of eight together, including the Stewards’ Cup and the Duke of York Stakes.

We took him out of the July Cup after the win as it looked a very tough race this year and this Group 3 looked a nice opportunity for him, although it is not going to be easy and he wouldn’t want the ground too quick.

I thought he did well to win at Haydock and he would have been helped if Kachy had kept straight and given him something to aim at.

If he runs well on Saturday he has plenty of Group 1 entries, including the Prix Maurice de Gheest at Deauville next month.

Sante wants a bit of cut in the ground and runs in the EBF Breeders’ Series Handicap (4.45).

The weather has played its part in who runs at Newmarket.

Rubens Dream wants soft ground and goes for the Betfinder By Betbright Handicap (5.35) over a mile and a quarter.
