Lutine makes a right charlie of layers

  • It was difficult to figure out at what point punters considered Lutine Charlie a 999-1 shot during the selling handicap at Brighton. Somebody obviously did, because £18 was traded on him at the ceiling price on Betfair as he ran out a game winner from the fast-finishing Corporal Maddox, who was matched at 1.23.

  • Ocean Temptress, who was backed down to 1.04 in the selling handicap at Yarmouth, came up agonisingly short in her attempt to make all as Shyarch collared her on the line after trading at 29.

  • Impressive Day got up in the final stride of the fillies' handicap at Brighton to deny Marie Joseph, who was done at 1.01 (more than £1,677 traded).

  • I was all over Amood in the 6f handicap at Haydock but he should never have got as low as 1.15 the way he hung in the closing stages and he still had a length to find at the line.
