Mr Lupton: encouraging return at Bath
Mr Lupton: encouraging return at Bath

Permian
Trainer: Mark Johnston
3rd, Bath, April 14
Like many of this stable’s three-year-olds, this Teofilo colt improved for stepping up in trip. He was conceding upwards of a stone to the first two and had he not hung left when asked for an effort two out, he probably would have won. Once straightening up, he kept on really well to be beaten a rapidly diminishing neck. He's likely to stay further than this 1m3½f and the assistance of a rail could be a benefit to him on future starts at right-handed courses.

Visionary
Robert Cowell
2nd, Lingfield, April 14
From a yard who excel with sprinters and this three-year-old Dream Ahead colt could be aimed at big sprint handicaps. Always positioned no more than three lengths of the lead, he kept on strongly in the home straight, finding only the improving winner Second Thought, who had the better turn of foot, too strong. Visionary will be suited by the end-to-end gallop of a big-field sprint.

Mazyoun
Hugo Palmer
4th, Musselburgh, April 15
This three-year-old by sprinter Mayson was placed in a couple of valuable sales sprint races last season and was running for the first time since being gelded and making his handicap debut in this valuable mile contest. This was the first time he has raced beyond 6½f and he travelled strongly for six furlongs before requiring maximum pressure to maintain his position and faded in the final furlong. It’s hard to say whether this trip stretched his stamina as he was returning from a break so may not have been fully fit, although the speed he showed suggests he is one to be seriously interested in over 7f.
