In keeping with his character, Wayne Lordan's rich vein of form has largely gone unnoticed. The unassuming Upton, County Cork native is one of the gentlemen of the game and just gets on with the job without any fuss.

There is no Legatissimo to keep him in the headlines this year and the Wachman and Stack stables have been relatively quiet but Lordan has been making the most of his chances of late and has had seven winners in the last fortnight who were returned at odds of 4-1, 7-1, 12-1, 13-2, 50-1, 5-1 and 3-1.

After riding only ten winners in the first five months of the year, Lordan exploded into life in June. A tenner on all 73 of his rides that month would have made you €386.50 better off.
