Lingfield Placepot picks: Graeme Rodway tackles the £250,000 guaranteed pool

There is a £250,000 guaranteed pool for the Placepot at Lingfield on ITV4 and the opening 1m4f handicap (12.05) could thin it out even further with only two places available.

Obsidian Knight has good course form and goes in alongside the consistent Protected Guest.

There are ten declared for the mile novice (12.40) and that makes it an attractive race for a banker. Laser Guided made a promising debut at Kempton last month and can build on that.

The Defiant is one of my best bets of the day and should be included in the 5f handicap (1.15). However, he is drawn out wide and Mick’s Spirit should go in as insurance.

The 6f handicap (1.50) is another open race. Lothian has run well at Lingfield before and looks sure to give a good account, but it’s also worth putting Real Estate into the perm.

Capricorn Prince is one of my stronger fancies on the card in the 1m4f handicap (2.25) and can be considered a banker, while the two favourites are opposable in the 1m2f handicap (3.00). Take on Sea Tsarina and Queen Of Ipanema with smart pair Tequilamockingbird and Viola.
