Leading chaser fancied to land John Durkan Memorial Chase
Willie Mullins has indicated that Djakadam arrives into this afternoon's Grade 1 John Durkan Chase (2.00) at Punchestown with a similar fitness level to that in which he dished out a 12-length drubbing to then stablemate Valseur Lido in this race last season.
If that is the case, Djakadam would be almost impossible to beat. Although he seems to have been around forever, the 170-rated son of Saint Des Saints is just seven years old and could well have more improvement in him.
Placed in two Gold Cups, there is every chance he hasn't received the respect he deserves, and he can be expected to make a winning reappearance.
