Anibale Fly finished a respectable fourth in the Grand National twelve months ago and could again make his presence felt in this year’s renewal.

Third behind Native River and Might Bite in a punishing Cheltenham Gold Cup, the Tony Martin-trained nine-year-old was badly hampered at the first in the Aintree spectacular but once back on an even keel did remarkably well to finish fourth. Never a threat on his reappearance at Cork in December, he has his share of weight but should not be underestimated.

Nigel Twiston Davies has won the National twice and the clock suggests Go Conquer may prove the pick of his nine entries. He took minor hours in his first two outings this term at Ascot and Doncaster but on a return to Town Moor last month earned a personal best on this timepiece when a convincing winner of the Sky Bet Handicap Chase.
