After the excitement of recent Sundays, culminating in a near-€70,000 payout for 22 winning tickets at the Curragh seven days ago, the Pick Six returns to a more mundane level at Tipperary.

On a card likely to feature several short-priced favourites, it is the concluding leg, a 16-runner handicap hurdle (4.25), that provides the most daunting challenge.

Sorting out three JP McManus-owned runners, two trained by Joseph O'Brien and the other by Tony Martin, is difficult enough. Throw into the equation another lightly-weighted runner from the Martin yard, a British raider supplied by Des Donovan, a Charles Brynes-trained mare and a runner from Edward O'Grady's in-form yard, and it amounts to a real puzzle.
