The stands’ side group went off too fast in the Scottish Stewards’ Cup at Hamilton last month and the subsequent pace collapse saw those drawn low dominate.

Jack Dexter, Get Knotted and Flying Pursuit – first, second and fifth of those to race on the stands’ side – all won over the weekend (at 5-1, 4-1 and 12-1) and KING ROBERT, fifth of the high draws and seventh overall in that contest, can be backed in the Stewards’ Cup consolation race. He’s also in at Thirsk.

Mark Johnston has a fine record in the classier handicaps at Goodwood and, since 2012, had we backed all his course runners in Class 2 handicaps over 1m2f or beyond we would have won 11 of our 73 bets and made a profit of £68.00 to a £1 level stake.
