Key Fairyhouse runners can overcome lack of experience
It should pay to overlook a relative shortage of hurdling experience to focus on a pair of once-raced maiden winners in the opening Grade 3 juvenile hurdle.
Down Royal winner Coeur Sublime is the selected of Gordon Elliott's pair ahead of three-time winner Chief Justice. Edward O'Grady's French import Humaniste made a good impression in beating a subsequent winner on his Irish debut.
Elliott and Mullins each provide two runners in the five-runner Royal Bond Hurdle. A turnaround of 7lb from a previous clash may be enough for Ruby Walsh's mount Quick Grabim in the rematch with stablemate Aramon. Elliott has a high opinion of Commander Of Fleet, who goes straight from a bloodless maiden win to contest this Grade 1 event.
Delta Work, last season's Pertemps Network Final Handicap Hurdle winner, attempts a similar task for Elliott in the Drinmore Novice Chase after an odds-on win in a beginners' chase. Despite a likely preference for further, he could battle this out with Joseph O'Brien's Le Richebourg, a winner at Listowel and Tipperary.
Velocity Boy, in contention when falling two out in the Cork National won by today's top weight Out Sam, has the stamina to win the 3m5f Porterstown Chase. Fitzhenry has never run beyond 3m but has a fighting chance if seeing out the trip.
Apple's Jade can deliver in her role as banker by winning the Hatton's Grace for the third consecutive year. The real puzzle remains to be solved.Off You Go, Hearts Are Trumps and Tornado Watch are the three suggestions in the minefield of a ultra-competitive 22-runner handicap hurdle.
