Martin Todhunter doesn't make too many forays south, so the fact he has targeted Cheltenham's Betvictor Handicap Chase (1.30) with Monbeg River is highly significant.

More used to Musselburgh and Ayr, Todhunter looks to have a nicely handicapped chaser on his hands and Monbeg River ran really well in a competitive race at Wetherby a month ago.

That form as it stands wouldn't normally be quite good enough to win a valuable Cheltenham contest, but this is not a strong race for the money and there are doubts about all the others in the field.
